Full Job Description
The Clerk will be accountable to the Governing Body, working effectively with the Chair of Governors, the Headteacher and the Governors. The post is for 78 hours per annum (approximately 2 hours per week) 38 weeks per year. The post holder's main role is to provide professional clerking services to the Governing Body and other committees and panels, as and when required. Additional duties will include:
- Working with the Chair of Governors, to manage the business of the governing body including collating and distributing agendas and associated paperwork in advance of meetings and producing accurate and well-presented minutes for distribution in a timely fashion
- Being available to clerk 5-6 full Governing Body meetings (max 2-3 hours) per year across the course of the year. Full Governing Body meetings take place in the evening .
- Advising the Governing Body on procedural and constitutional matters, duties and powers and work within the broad current legislative framework
- Attending relevant training events and Clerks' Briefings to keep informed and up-to-date
- Other duties include organising and attending panels, parent governor recruitment and maintaining the Governor calendar, policy file and portal.
Experience is desirable particularly in administration but not essential as training will be provided. Candidates should be competent in the use of a word processor, email and internet. They need to have an interest in education, be tactful and able to deal with matters confidentially.
Payment will be at Grade 6 (pts 15-20) £29,093- £31,586 pa Pro rata
