Full Job Description
This an exciting time to join the Cellular Pathology/Histopathology department at Bedford Hospital, which has now merged with Luton & Dunstable Hospital to form the Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The department has recently secured £2.7million funding for the full implementation of digital histopathology reporting across both sites and this is currently being implemented which will be of benefit to the department and consultants for future working.
This is a replacement post at Bedford Hospital due to part time working within the Cellular Pathology / Histopathology Department. The appointee will be part of a team of seven Consultants. The Cellular Pathology / Histopathology Department deals with a wide range of specialties. The laboratory has full UKAS accreditation., The Key tasks for the role of Consultant in Cellular Pathology are;o To provide the Trust's diagnostic histopathology and non-gynaecological cytopathology in conjunction with consultant colleagues.o To actively participate in both departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and audit.o To have responsibility for and actively participate in continuing professional development (CPD).
