Full Job Description
We have an exciting, unique opportunity for an experienced traffic control systems and technology specialist to join our Technology Operations Centre (TOC) in National Highways' Operational Control Division. Traffic signals make up a vital part of our vast operational roadside technology assets, which are crucial to maintaining a safe and reliable road network and improving the customer experience. As a Traffic Signal Incident Specialist, you will be a 'go-to' point of contact and systems expert in the TOC, leading and coordinating responses to technology incidents related to traffic signal faults using the YUNEX UTC system. In this newly created role (which will be known internally as a UTC Incident Specialist), you will be responsible for:
- Leading the incident management process for traffic signal faults, using specialist knowledge of the service and the software tool Yunex UTC.
- Investigating and determining appropriate actions for traffic signals faults, including remotely resolving faults where possible.
- Using the UTC System to determine root causes and appropriate actions for complex, reoccurring, and intermittent faults.
- Providing specialist advice to colleagues in the Technology Operations Centre and being the escalation point for traffic signals faults and issues.
- Developing and supporting the wider team in building knowledge and understanding of traffic signal faults, including use of UTC and other tools e.g. Stratos.
Excellent understanding and experience of monitoring, reporting and managing traffic signal faults and how they are resolved. - Strong knowledge and experience of working with traffic control incident systems; experience of using YUNEX UTC system is essential.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with other stakeholders (e.g. traffic signal contractors) to resolve technology faults.
- Ability to translate and communicate accurate information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders / users.
- Proven ability in developing and maintaining processes and procedures.
