Full Job Description
developing and delivering projects, including supporting parents in the community, and providing activities in collaboration with partners, to promote better health and wellbeing for babies, children, young people and families in our local communities.
An exciting opportunity has arisen as part of the Family Hub development within County Durham to join a team of Family Peer Supporters. This post will cover the North of County Durham. The role is NHS Band 3 with a permanent contract., The post holder will provide a high standard of information and support to children and their families in a range of settings (home, communities,
Family Hubs and groups etc.) The post holder, following appropriate training will work with appropriate supervision to undertake a range of tasks and group delivery. The role will provide low level parenting support, through home learning, supporting child development, speech and language, child accident prevention and school readiness. Providing person centred approaches, empowering families, and building confidence, Support parents and families to help their children learn and socialise through play activities. Improving speech, language and communication through the home learning environment and groups with families who require additional support.
Promote child accident prevention campaigns.
Work independently with families and voluntary and statutory agencies, with appropriate supervision.
Utilise a community engagement approach to develop appropriate activities and events to support child development.
Support with helping to address food insecurity; Healthy Start initiatives; Fun and Food initiatives; reducing isolation within community.
