A FIXED TERM or a SECONDMENT Opportunity until 30th September 2025 working 22.5 hours per week (0.6wte) has arisen at an exciting time of change within our learning disability service; for an experienced and enthusiastic physiotherapist with diverse clinical skills based with the East Specialist Health Community Learning Disability Team.
The team provides a client focused community based service to adults with a learning disability and complex health needs which cannot be met by mainstream services.
This is a brilliant opportunity to diversify your skill set and gain experience in working with adults with a learning disability; developing your knowledge of reasonable adjustments, hydrotherapy, postural management and specialist equipment. In service training and support provided.
As well as working with the East Specialist Health Community Learning Disability Team, you will be a part of the Devon wide specialist physiotherapy team. We are a Monday to Friday 9-5 service, with no on call demands. Flexible and hybrid working available., You will have responsibility for a caseload and be required to work confidently with adults with complex postural and physical needs, completing thorough assessments and providing evidence based treatment programmes as well as training family and carers in 24 hour postural management.
There will be opportunities to participate in hydrotherapy, postural management clinics and to work closely with senior physiotherapists, physiotherapy assistants and students.
We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills and experience in working with complex physical health needs. Experience of working with people with learning disabilities is desirable but not essential if you have the required transferrable skills., We not only recruit based on qualifications & experience - we recruit individuals who possess & demonstrate the behaviours which underpin our Trusts core values. These include such attributes as showing a commitment to quality of care, improving lives of others, giving respect, dignity & compassion. We can bring those values to life in our everyday tasks by giving a smile; making time for people; challenging ourselves & others, & being open to new ideas.
We are committed to being an inclusive employer & applications are encouraged & welcomed from all sections of the community, regardless of any protected characteristics as governed by the Equality Act 2010. Part time & flexible working applications will be considered & supported, where possible. We particularly encourage applicants with lived experience of mental health conditions, neurodiversity or learning disabilities. We are a Disability Confident Leader.
