Calling all compassionate and dedicated individuals! Mencap is seeking passionate Support Workers to join our incredible team in Leeds - LS17 As a Waking Night Support Worker, you'll have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of individuals with learning disabilities. You will be working with a diverse group of people, each with their own unique abilities and needs. As a Waking Night Support Worker you will be expected to provide an outstanding level of support to 3 men with autism that will enormously contribute to them living a more comfortable, dignified, liberated and happy life, including:
- Personal care - helping people to get ready for the day and assisting with bathing, showering and using the bathroom.
- Supporting them to live independently - budget management, paying bills, maintaining their home, organising appointments and supporting them to cook delicious healthy meals.
- Excellent communication skills/relationship building - supporting them to understand the world around them and promoting positive relationships.
- Community & Social Inclusion- Supporting the men to access and participate in their local community, go on holidays and Social events to promote life skills and individuality. What we're looking for:
- A genuine passion for supporting others.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build meaningful relationships.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- A positive and empathetic attitude towards individuals with learning disabilities. This role requires you to ideally be a driver. Contract options:
- Waking Night - 20 Hours Shift times: All our services are 24hr care. We prepare the rotas at least 4 weeks in advance so you can still plan your personal and social life!
- Days: various shifts Between 07:00-22:00
- Waking Nights: 10:00-08:00 There is also a sleep-in available where you will receive an enhanced flat rate payment Why join Mencap?
