Are you committed to improving mental health services in Wales? We are recruiting for a full-time Senior Improvement Manager to join the Mental Health and Learning and Disability Team. In this role you will initially work alongside the dementia care programme team, ensuring the delivery of the national dementia care improvement programme. This is an exciting time to join the team as we focus on key actions to support regions across Wales deliver improved care for those with dementia, their families, carers and communities. You will also be part of the wider mental health team and have the opportunity to support the broader and developing mental health programme. Main duties of the job It will be essential for the post holder to build a strong and effective working relationship with colleagues working in the broader NHS Executive, people with lived experience, health boards, partner agencies, improvement teams, academia and Welsh Government. You'll be joining an ambitious team, comprising some of the most qualified, experienced improvement professionals in health and social care in Wales. Together, we lead, embed and champion improvement across Wales - drawing on international best practice and evidence. As part of our ongoing development, we want to strengthen our team by recruiting new team members from diverse backgrounds with a mix of skills, personalities and experiences.   • Educated to Master's Degree level or equivalent qualification or level of experience working at a senior management level
  • Improvement certification (Improvement in Practice, Lean practitioner level etc.)
  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • Project/programme management qualification or equivalent experience in leading programme/projects with demonstrable outcomes or equivalent qualification; or equivalent level of knowledge and skills
  • Desirable
  • Training delivery qualification
  • Coaching qualification, such as ILM
  • Experience Essential
  • Significant management experience in a senior role including staff management, ideally within the NHS or Social Care
  • Experience of process/problem analysis, challenging existing thinking and generating improvements and solutions
  • Experience of successfully leading and implementing project driven change management
  • Experience of mentoring or coaching teams or individuals, Ability to work closely with people in other disciplines and form professional working relationships, influencing, negotiation and resolving conflict with regards to change management
  • Ability to communicate highly complex technical concepts and analysis effectively to different organisations and audiences; including formal presentations e.g. Board level.
  • Ability to explain and work with concepts of measurement for improvement to a variety of audiences and to provide practical support for teams in developing measures for improvement
  • Ability to organise, plan and prioritise a diverse range of complex strategic programmes to meet statutory and other deadlines typically involving other disciplines/organisations.
  • Ability to train multi-disciplinary groups including clinical staff through the delivery of multi-organisational training programmes.
  • Can demonstrate initiative, creativity, flexibility and a personal ethos of continuous improvement.
  • Ability to focus, concentrate and accurately complete tasks within given timeframes whilst dealing with unscheduled interruptions e.g., changing priorities.
  • Ability to manage services across organisations.
  • Ability to translate strategy into action.
  • Demonstrable additional specialist knowledge and expertise e.g. advanced presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Knowledge of NHS quality improvement agenda and methodologies.
  • Understand the requirements of Information Governance in relation to the NHS., Understands the importance of being a strong team player, which includes: oActive participation oCo-operation oRespect and support for others
  • Evidence of continuous exploration of alternative solutions to problems
  • Commitment to self-development, actively seeking feedback and learning
  • Ability to focus, concentrate and accurately complete tasks within given timeframes whilst dealing with unscheduled interruptions e.g. changing priorities
  • Ability to meet the frequent travel needs of the post. (The post-holder will be required to travel to any location as required by the organisation which may be remote and distant and this may mean frequent overnight stays away from home).
