Full Job Description

Fife Council Children & Family Service is undergoing a period of redesign to ensure services offer both an early help and support function alongside core statutory services to improve outcomes for children, young people and families in Fife. We are looking to recruit social workers for our Early Help and Support Teams (EH&S Teams) and our Enhanced Children & Families Teams (EC&F Teams). You will be based across the 7 localities in Fife. The posts are on a permanent full-time basis, working 36 hours per week, with a salary of £40,358.57 to £44,225.49. The Children and Family Service has invested in our supervision model and our offer to newly qualified social work staff. A high level of individual and group support is offered via professional supervision, group supervision, newly qualified staff forums and an extension workforce and development offering. These Teams will deliver a range of earlier intervention services to children in need to address wellbeing needs, concerns and emerging risks, as well as core statutory functions to support planning in respect to looked after children, children and young people at risk, permanence planning. The model across the Children & Families Service will be underpinned by a family-based assessment, direct 1-1 support, family group decision making, group work opportunities and partnership working at a local level. The core components of the Early Help & Support Teams are outlined below: Initial assessment underpinned by a whole family approach Develop a family plan which is co-produced with families as part of a relational approach. 1-1 support in family homes/ EH&S base underpinned by a family decision making model. Delivery of group work with partners (e.g. Incredible Years, Mellow, Triple P). Pre-birth assessments and support (include caregivers using harmful substances). Collaborative work with Primary & Secondary Schools through formal partnership meetings. (e.g. thematic group work, partnership training etc). Collaborative work with Health Visiting Teams, CLD and Third sector organisations. Develop community initiatives based on thematic priorities. Connect with the Prevention & Wellbeing Service - No Wrong Door. Collaborate with the Safer Communities Team. Targeted group work support and mentoring for young people at risk of entering the justice system. Submit information and attend IRD meetings. Complete reports and attend Team Around the Child Meetings, Children's Hearings, Initial and Review Child Protection Planning Meetings. Support transition to the Enhanced Children & Family Teams based on criteria and guidance. Support transition back to universal or Third sector services including No Wrong Door Wellbeing & Prevention service Evaluate, promote and share the impact of early help and support (performance framework/scorecard) . Supporting the family for as long as is necessary Building capacity for families within their community Strengthening connections and collaborative work within High Schools The core components of the Enhanced Child and Family Teams are: Initial assessment underpinned by a whole family approach (Family decision making model) following screening by the SWCC based on EC&F Team criteria. (Appendix 1) Develop a child's plan which is co-produced with families as part of a relational approach. Embed a family decision making approach which is focused on relationship building with family members through a whole family approach. Lead for children's planning for C&YP subject to a CSO at home, foster care, kinship care, residential care including secure care placements. Identify, assess and manage risk (e.g. MAPPA, MARAC, Strategy Meetings) Safety Planning for C&YP at risk of significant harm Raising IRDs and acting as the lead for C&F Social Work to support planning for families open to the Team - linking closely with Child Protection Team Submitting information and contribute to IRD meetings Completion of parenting capacity assessments to support care planning. Coordinate family time and sibling contact. Completion of relevant reports for SCRA and LAC reviews, attending Children's Hearings and LAC reviews. Completing reports for Child Protection Planning Meetings and attending in the role of lead professional. Completing Multi Agency Child's Chronology (Implementation plan from November 2024). Permanence Planning Reviewing plans leading to potential for reunification of families Targeted 1 -1 and group work for example parents affected by harmful substances, young people entering the justice system. Support transition to the Early Help & Support Team or other relevant service to a benefits package that offers discounts on a wide range of products and services The Person Social Workers must be qualified with a BA (Hons) Social Work prior to applying As this role requires SSSC registration, the successful applicant will have three months to apply for registration. If appointed, you must start your application as soon as possible so you're registered within the required six months. More details are included in the role profile. Before confirming your appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.
