We have a fantastic opportunity for a Resident Engagement Assistant to join our Strategic Waste Team here at Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council on a fixed-term basis until October 2026. In this exciting role, you'll engage directly with residents, schools and community groups to promote and educate residents on recycling and waste minimisation. You'll help residents understand the upcoming changes to the waste and recycling service through supporting various community engagement campaigns across the Borough. No prior experience in waste strategy is needed, as we will provide full training. What's most important is having a positive attitude, excellent people skills, and a flexible approach. What you'll do:
- Assist in delivering educational campaigns to increase recycling participation.
- Support events, drop-in sessions, and community visits to engage with residents.
- Visit schools across the Borough to engage with children about the importance of recycling.
- Deliver fun, educational campaigns to boost recycling participation.
- Provide advice and information directly to residents, including door-knocking activities.
- Assist in collecting feedback from residents and monitoring participation rates.
- Work as part of a team to support the roll-out of new services, such as the garden waste subscription service. Working arrangements: This role includes a variety of working patterns, including mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends., As this is a fixed-term post, secondment opportunities can be considered for internal employees.
