Full Job Description

College Guardians was founded in 2010 to provide guardianship services to overseas students attending boarding school, college and universities in the UK. We are accredited through AEGIS (The Association for the Education and Guardianship of International Students) and our services include the provision of a number of guardianship packages to parents, sourcing and managing homestay families, attending parent meetings and providing advice and guidance to our students and their parents. Further information can be found at www.collegeguardians.co.uk We are looking to appoint a part-time Student Support Assistant - Japanese Speaker. This is a Worcester based role with the possibility of some UK travel. The hours of work will average 8 hours a week throughout the year, predominantly during School term time. However, due to the nature of the role, there may be more hours worked one week and fewer another. What you'll be doing:

  • Assisting with the translation, and help to develop marketing material
  • Liaising and developing relationships with Thai agents
  • Communicating with parents, school and college staff
  • Visiting students at schools, colleges and universities where necessary
  • You'll have:
  • Good general education and ability to communicate fluently in both written and spoken Thai
  • Experience in an administrative and customer facing role
  • Experience of working/interacting with children and young adults
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively/respond to situations in a timely manner
  • An understanding of the UK boarding school system
  • Ability to plan and schedule your own workload and work remotely/on your own initiative
  • Highly flexible approach to working hours as the role will require unsociable hours including evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
  • To apply: Applications should be submitted no later than Friday 2 May 2025. College Guardians reserves the right to close this vacancy early and therefore applicants are encouraged to apply sooner. For an informal discussion about the role please contact: jane@collegeguardians.co.uk This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and College Guardians is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are 'spent' unless they are 'protected' under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children. This post involves significant contact with children and the post holder will be responsible for children. The post holder will be considered to be in a regulated activity. College Guardians is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Candidates must be prepared to undergo child protection screening and an Enhanced DBS check. You will be required to provide proof of your identity, right to work in the UK and qualifications during the selection process. We will seek references on short-listed candidates that will include questions about past disciplinary actions or allegations in relation to behaviour with children and may approach previous employers for information to verify particular experience or qualifications before interview. An online search will also be carried out as part of due diligence on all short-listed candidates
