Full Job Description
The School Parking Enforcement Officer will visit and patrol school streets to ensure they are safe for people attending at pick-up and drop-off times and to encourage considerate parking. This being achieved by engaging and collaborating with parents and drivers and by providing guidance and information about safe and considerate parking through promotional material, and information on alternative parking options. This will also be supplemented with the issuing of penalty charge notices where appropriate. This job must be achieved using a calm, tactful and professional approach with discretion, engagement and education at the heart of what we do.
Outside of school patrols, day-to day activities include assisting the School Parking Liaison officer with the implementation and promotion of the 3PR initiative. This will involve liaising with schools, researching safe alternative parking locations and finding suitable locations for 'Park & Stride' and / or 'Walking Bus' schemes. This may also include assisting in the creation of route and zone maps, plus the provision of data and information from patrols to assist with prioritising and tailoring engagement and enforcement.
The successful applicant will also liaise with Essex County Council (ECC) to assist with data collection on issues outside the school and the impact of enforcement and 3PR initiatives that feed into the Healthy School Streets programme, to enable ECC to tailor engagement and promotion.
