Full Job Description

Process Engineer - Leeds

At Stantec, we have been successful on a number of framework bids for AMP 8 and are excited about the opportunities to continue driving innovation in the industry. Major appointments such as Yorkshire Water's Strategic Planning Partnership, United Utilities Design Development Partnership and Northumbrian Water's Strategic Technical Partnership will provide a range of exciting challenges for our teams throughout 2025 and beyond.

As we continue delivering expert solutions to our clients, we are now seeking Process Engineers with a background in clean water process engineering to join the team. Based from our offices in Leeds, Warrington, Manchester or Newcastle, you will join a multidisciplinary team, with an active social calendar and a supportive culture. As a contributing member of our team of global experts, you will use your knowledge and experience to deliver innovative, sustainable, and efficient engineering solutions for our clients and the communities around us. This will include:

  • Optimising existing treatment works

  • Developing solutions for emerging concerns such as PFAS

  • Addressing specific regulatory drivers including nitrate, taste and odour issues through catchment and or treatment interventions

The role requirements are to:

  • Provide technical expertise to multi-disciplinary project teams during the problem definition and optioneering phases of design projects

  • Identify opportunities for innovation to meet investment budgets, deliver carbon net-zero and environmental drivers

  • Work on process design deliverables such as root cause analyses, optioneering slide decks and or reports, process models, mass balances and P&IDs

  • Maintain Stantec's high quality standards by working within and contributing to our Quality Assurance process

  • Make a measurable difference in an area that affects our communities today

This is a great opportunity to join a nurturing team that will provide you with plenty of scope for technical learning, training and structured career progression in the coming years, as well as the opportunity to improve the environment for generations to come.

To be considered for this opportunity you will be degree qualified (or equivalent) in Chemical or Process Engineering (or other relevant subject) with experience within the water industry. You must also be a member of a relevant engineering institution i.e. IChemE, CIWEM. You will be passionate about water, with problem solving and process auditing skills, and experience designing and optimising water treatment processes. Laboratory test work skills (e.g. jar testing) are preferable but not essential. With the growth of our business there are many opportunities for you to grow across our expanded business lines.
