Full Job Description
We are looking for a forward-thinker with drive and strong leadership skills to both help shape our distinctive local public health agenda and inform decisions which will impact on the health and wellbeing of the population of Cardiff and the Vale.
In this role you will hold a specific portfolio of work for which you will ensure expert public health leadership, support and advice. This will include providing systems leadership and support to specific areas of work, for example our immunisation strategy and reducing health inequities, by working locally with ethnic minority communities., The postholder(s) will:
have responsibility for development, implementation and delivery of national, regional and local policies, developing inter-agency and interdisciplinary strategic plans and programmes, with delegated Board or organisational authority to deliver key public health targets
provide expert public health advice and leadership to support and inform an evidence-based approach within ethical frameworks for commissioning and developing high quality equitable services, across primary, secondary and social care, and across sectors including local authorities, third sector organisations and others
be proficient in the use of behavioural change evidence and methodology to support transformation change within the population
lead on network development for population health improvement
develop strong partnerships supporting integrated working across Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan to improve population health
develop and utilise information and intelligence systems to underpin public health action across disciplines and organisations, leading collation and interpretation of relevant data
be expected to participate in public health research, commissioning of research audits/projects, audit
deputise for the Executive Director of Public Health as necessary
