Full Job Description
There is a large regeneration and growth agenda in Thurrock, with ever increasing growth in employment, and a need for housing. We are developing a new Transport Strategy which will set the agenda for our transport network over the next 25 years. Opportunities in new technologies are also playing a role in how transport works, with new modes and business models helping people travel in different ways. This role will help the council to focus on delivering better mobility for our existing and future residents and workers, by promoting both existing and new methods of travel.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed individual to join us in the role of Senior Transport Mobility Officer. This new opportunity is an interesting and unique role in the planning, management, promotion and delivery of transport mobility to enable and sustainable growth across our borough. The role will provide the opportunity to explore and implement new transport mobility projects into Thurrock, working alongside our Highways and Planning colleagues to deliver growth in the borough.
The successful candidate will have a relevant degree level qualification and/or have good knowledge, skills and experience in: -
- Transport Planning Principles - A good understanding of the basic principles of transport planning and have a clear grasp of the importance of the integration of a supportive transport network in supporting sustainable growth and communities;
- Bus Networks - A good grasp of the council's statutory duties related to bus services including engagement with the Traffic Commissioner, the English National Concessionary Travel Scheme, Enhanced Partnerships and Bus Service Improvement Plans
- Transport Mobility - The principles behind Mobility As A Service, new technologies empowering transport users, and the opportunities of car clubs, and scooter and cycle hire schemes; and,
- Communication - ability to engage and liaise with our residents, transport delivery partners and any other stakeholders, as well as a strong English writing skills will be essential for the role.
This role will require an Enhanced level Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
