Full Job Description
We are seeking a permanent Deputy Chief Medical Officer to support the Chief Medical Officer in providing strong professional leadership and effective delivery of quality standards. In addition to deputising for the CMO when required, the post holder will have their own portfolio aimed at optimising professional development this could include, for example, medical workforce and job planning, mortality, governance and safety. Other development opportunities include Caldicott and Responsible Officer training and leadership roles in the Norfolk and Waveney Hospitals Group. The Deputy CMO will also support and provide professional leadership to the Divisional Medical Directors, their deputies, and Clinical Leads. Sessional Commitment: 4-6 Programmed Activities (PAs) depending upon candidate's preferred balance between management and clinical commitments, plus a responsibility allowance of £15,000. For external candidates: 10PAs of which 4-6 will be for this role and remainder for Consultant post in own specialism., As the Deputy Chief Medical Officer you will work closely with our Chief Medical Officer to contribute to the development of the Trust's strategy including the development and provision of services. As part of the leadership team, deliver the Trust's strategic objectives and achieve the Trust's performance and financial targets. The deputy Chief Medical Officer will drive and facilitate innovation and change to meet the challenges of the modern NHS. Provide clinical leadership in continuously improving the quality of patient care including safety, effectiveness, productivity and patient experience. The Deputy Chief Medical Officer will develop collaborative working at Place and System level across the Integrated Care System and within the Norfolk & Waveney Hospitals Group, and with stakeholders such as the University of East Anglia. The Deputy Chief Medical Officer will assist the Chief Medical Officer in fulfilling their role within the Trust and across the system, including deputising for the CMO when required and support the Divisional Medical Directors, their deputies and Clinical Leads in their operational roles. - MBBS or Basic Medical Degree
- Higher Medical Qualification
- Holds a licence to Practise
- Registered on the GMC Specialist Register Desirable
- Postgraduate Qualification in Leadership and Management Experience and Knowledge Essential
- Professional, leadership and senior managerial experience
- High level multi-professional team-working skills
- Experience of leading service design or improvement initiatives

- Current or previous clinical leadership or management roles
