Full Job Description

Lancashire Wildlife Trust and The Conservation Volunteers are working together on the Wet Willow Wildlife project to:

  • Boost survival of wet willow species such as willow tit through creation of habitat corridors at a landscape scale,
  • Involve people and improve skills through surveying and habitat conservation volunteering opportunities and
  • Run a community engagement programme to connect more people with their local nature.
  • This project is funded by the Government's Species Survival Fund. The fund was developed by Defra and its Arm's-Length Bodies. It is being delivered by The National Lottery Heritage Fund in partnership with Natural England and the Environment Agency. The Species Survival Fund will help halt and reverse the decline in species abundance by preserving vital habitats. Wet Willow Wildlife aims to improve the network of wet willow habitat to facilitate the survival and aid the abundance of its many associated species, such as the red-listed Willow Tit. This will be done by undertaking targeted habitat creation, restoration and connecting works across the landscape of Greater Manchester and north- west Cheshire, boosting the connectivity of the wider habitat mosaic by creating four enhanced habitat corridors in Bolton, the Chat Moss area, Trafford and the Mersey Gateway area. A large part of this habitat programme will involve volunteers in delivery, enhancing skills and helping safeguard wet willow habitat beyond the lifespan of the project. Running alongside the habitat delivery and surveying Citizen Science programmes will be a wide-reaching community programme to encourage people to take part and become more engaged with their local wildlife. We're looking for someone who is able to support the practical species recovery aspects of the project, helping the wider project team with preparing for, undertaking, monitoring, evaluating and reporting on the habitat delivery works across a variety of sites in the region. The successful candidate will have an aptitude to learn, good team working and communication skills and the ability to use their initiative in order to support the project team in delivering successful outcomes. Further details including a full Job Description can be found in the Recruitment Pack below, along with our application forms. Please review the Job Description before you apply.
