Full Job Description

Millfield School is looking for an organised and proactive individual to join our team as the Gallery and Art Department Administrator. This role offers a unique opportunity to support the smooth running of a vibrant art department while contributing to the success of the on-campus Atkinson Gallery. In this role, you will monitor the departmental budget, maintaining accurate records and providing timely reports to the Head of Department and teaching staff. Alongside this, you will provide comprehensive administrative support, from sourcing teaching materials to maintaining supplies and assisting with reprographic tasks. Your communication skills will be key as you liaise with parents, students, and external organisations. As part of the Atkinson Gallery team, you will help coordinate exhibitions, liaise with artists, and manage all aspects of gallery administration, including marketing, social media, and event planning. You will assist with the installation of exhibitions, maintain accurate records of artwork and sales, and help deliver an engaging visitor experience. You will also oversee the upkeep of the sculpture trail and ensure the gallery is a welcoming and well-maintained space for students and the public. This role requires excellent organisational skills, a strong attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively within a creative environment. If you are excited by the prospect of supporting artistic endeavours within an educational setting, we would love to hear from you.

This is a permanent role working 9am to 4.45pm Monday to Friday during term time, plus an additional 6 weeks to be worked during non-term time. Some evening and weekend work may be required during special school events. In return, you will receive a salary of £21,528.39 per annum (inclusive of statutory holiday pay), plus an array of staff benefits including freshly prepared lunches for just £10 per month, access to the school facilities and discounts/cashback on high street shops and restaurants through the school's Employee Assistance Programme.

  • Please note that applications will be considered on receipt, and as a result the vacancy may close early should an appointment be made. As such we would recommend submitting your application as soon as possible
