Full Job Description
As a Library Officer, you will maintain the front-line service and supervise the library team ensuring a high level of customer care.
The role demands exceptional people management skills, a strong understanding of a library or customer service environment, and a keen ability to organize both staff and resources effectively.
You will be considered a subject matter expert in co-ordinating teams of dedicated library staff, addressing often challenging queries from the public, and ensuring that our libraries run smoothly and efficiently.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Library Manager and other senior library staff to passionately plan and deliver the service, and they may also find themselves engaged in inspiring county-wide projects and initiatives.
If you have excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and thrive in a fast-paced environment, we want to hear from you!, You will need to be able to travel independently around the county, including to areas that may not be easily accessible by public transport. Pool cars and pool bikes available (subject to availability).
We think libraries are great places to work, where you can make a difference to local communities every day. Find out more about the variety that comes with working in a library and hear first-hand from some of our library staff here: Library Jobs - West Sussex
As an employer we recognise that it is our employees that are central to everything we do. We aim to create a supportive and dynamic working environment where employees can achieve their full potential, achieve a healthy work-life balance and are rewarded for the work they do.
A laptop and mobile will be supplied if applicable to your role. You will benefit from 25 days annual leave, rising to 28 days after 5 years' service plus the opportunity to buy additional leave and an excellent local government pension scheme
A range of discounts give our staff access to hundreds of offers; groceries, travel, cinema tickets, days out, leisure activities, high street retailers and the opportunity to save over £1,000 a year through our West Sussex Choices benefits platform.
