Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Wakefield Public Health Team to join us as a Public Health Project Co-ordinator within the Children, Young People, and Families Team. Our ambition for Wakefield is one where children and young people tell us they are happy, healthy, and safe, and are thriving in communities where families and services work together to help them achieve their potential and dreams. You will be fundamental in supporting and implementing delivery of key Public Health messages which supports the Healthy Child Programme and 0-19 agenda. You will be required to support the Health Improvement Specialists, and members of the Children's Public Health team, to ensure their work stream of programmes and commissioned services are planned, managed effectively, and support their delivery through effective business support. Workstreams may include perinatal mental health, child development, breastfeeding, childhood obesity prevention, immunisation uptake, and accident prevention, alongside initiatives such as Start for Life, the Dolly Parton Imagination Library and direct delivery of the Wakefield Risk and Resilience Framework. You will work collaboratively with partners and stakeholders, including providers of services, in the development of Public Health services and subsequent policy implementation. This will involve collating information in a timely manner for analysis and evaluation so that the effectiveness of initiatives can be assessed. By carrying out this role you will contribute to the development and implementation of local plans, actions, and outcomes that will make a difference to the children, young people, and families in Wakefield. Your key priorities will be:

  • Responsible for organising events, managing schedules, booking venues, taking meeting minutes, and following up on delegated actions to support the Public Health Children's Team in achieving successful outcomes across various projects
  • To support work to co-ordinate and evaluate specialised areas of Public Health work, having/developing an in-depth knowledge of the area(s).
  • To support project management to both staff and projects.
  • To support projects by carrying out needs assessments and evaluating impact
  • To support engagement with key partners and contribute to key Public Health outcome achievements.
  • To work with media colleagues to disseminate information widely in appropriate formats such as websites and social media platforms.
  • To deliver briefings, presentations, and training to a wide range of Professionals across the district.
  • To support key recommendations in delivery of the Wakefield Risk and Resilience Framework.
  • All staff will be expected to interpret their role in the context of the vision, values, strategies, objectives and aims of the Public Health Department, and in the broader context of the Council and its partners. In carrying out their role they will be contributing to the development and implementation of national and local policy. You will report to the Public Health Improvement Specialist for Children and Young People.
