Job Summary: The Subject Recruitment Marketing team is responsible for the development and delivery of subject-based marketing and recruitment activity. The team plays an integral role in supporting LJMU's student recruitment strategy and the achievement of annual recruitment targets and works closely with academic colleagues and other professional services staff to ensure the effective co-ordination and alignment of activities and messaging. Recruitment Marketing Managers are allocated specific subject areas of responsibility either at a Faculty or School level but will be expected to operate flexibly to deliver the work of the wider team as required. The role encompasses a broad range of marketing activity from developing content and promotional materials to the planning, delivery and evaluation of effective subject recruitment campaigns across multiple platforms. The post-holder will also play a key role in developing and promoting subject specific recruitment events as well as subject promotion and support for university-wide recruitment activities.Duties:

  • Working in collaboration with the wider Student Recruitment Marketing and
  • Admissions team and academic colleagues, responsibility for the development and delivery of a recruitment marketing plan and associated budget to support the achievement of the recruitment targets of allocated subject areas.
  • Provide expert marketing advice to academic colleagues and promote best practice
  • within the subject area of responsibility.
  • Working with colleagues in the Customer Relationships and Insight team utilise
  • subject based market research and analysis to identify and prioritise recruitment activities and markets opportunities.
  • Working alongside the Undergraduate and Postgraduate Recruitment Marketing
  • Managers implement a subject based communication plan for enquirers and applicant conversion across all platforms including emails, SMS, digital, print and subject based pages of the website.
  • Develop communications that adhere to the University policies and guidelines
  • ensuring consistency of tone of voice, brand and message in line with the corporate brand and visual identity guidelines.
  • Work with the University's Brand and Design team and external agencies to develop
  • promotional materials.
  • Write briefs for use by the Brand and Design team and external agencies to develop
  • engaging content including video and images for use in recruitment materials and digital advertising campaigns.
  • In conjunction with the Undergraduate and Postgraduate Course Information
  • Coordinators, responsibility for ensuring that course information in the allocated subject areas is maintained and up to date. Specifically, the Recruitment Marketing Manager is responsible for identifying unique selling points of courses and differentiation from competitors, writing and updating student, alumni and academic profiles and maintaining information such as employability details and forms of assessment.
  • Identify and implement third party subject campaigns through external sites such as
  • Prospects and UCAS where appropriate.
  • Communicate and report on progress of recruitment campaigns against objectives to
  • measure return on investment.
  • Procure services and goods in accordance with LJMU's financial regulations and
  • manage the recruitment marketing budget allocated to the subject area of responsibility.
  • Manage the social media accounts of the subject areas of responsibility.
  • Develop, co-ordinate and promote targeted subject specific recruitment events (virtual
  • and face to face) to support recruitment targets.
  • Working with the Recruitment Officers ensure that academic staff and students in
  • areas of responsibility support student recruitment activities.
  • Review academic presentations used in recruitment activity to ensure consistency of
  • tone of voice, brand and message in line with the corporate brand and visual identity guidelines.
  • Provide additional subject promotion and support for university-wide recruitment
  • events and activities.
  • In collaboration with the Outreach team, develop a programme of subject based
  • outreach provision to meet recruitment and widening participation objectives.
  • Responsibility for the maintenance and accuracy of subject specific information on
  • LJMU On Demand, including course talks and video content.
  • Keep up to date with news stories, activity and research within allocated subject area
  • to ensure these feed into student recruitment activities as appropriate. Refer, where appropriate to Corporate Communications team to maximise external promotional opportunities.
  • Build strong and effective relationships with key internal stakeholders including the
  • wider Student Recruitment Marketing and Admissions team, Directors of School, academic colleagues and other professional service teams.Other duties
  • Support key institutional recruitment events and activities including open days,
  • applicant days and Clearing.
  • Represent Student Recruitment Marketing and Admissions at appropriate internal
  • and external meetings and working groups as appropriate.
  • Any other duties commensurate with the grade as deemed appropriate by your line
  • manager.
