Full Job Description

The current opportunity is available for current Manchester Met students, to apply you must be based in the UK for the duration of the role., We provide a commissioning programme that gives students real-world experience to enhance their portfolios. This scheme funds students to create artworks to coincide with our annual degree show, with support from our technical team, curatorial team, and academic staff. The process is simple: apply, pitch, and get commissioned. We are on the lookout for an imaginative, enthusiastic, and artistic student to join the curatorial team as a Digital Designer. As our Digital Designer, you would be assisting the students to share their stories, via digital formats including social media and the production of a booklet to showcasing the students commission journey. You will work with the team to re-brand the gallery and produce digital assets and branding suggestions. During the stages of their commission process, you will be working with shortlisted students on supporting with artist statements and and collating labels for the show. You will work with staff and students attending project management support sessions. Working closely with the Curator and Support Manager and technical team who will mentor you throughout the entire experience and give you all the help and support you need in developing your skills and experience with collaborative design projects. As a visual storyteller, you'll be brimming with fresh ideas to bring to the table and have the opportunity to see them come to fruition. No two days are the same in this role - you'll be designing both online and offline supporting the art school learning environment.

  • Working in a professional context to help deliver an engaging programme of study for undergraduate and masters level students.

  • You would be an invaluable addition to the team in this process and aid us in supporting the commission process that enhances the overall student experience of students partaking in the project. Details Dates: 26 May 2025 - 18 July 2025 Hours per week: 10 Students will be expected to develop the following skills and experiences while carrying out this internship
  • Designing for print
  • Designing for digital media (web, user interface, user experience)
  • Assisting on supporting student stories and providing basic pre-press design work
  • Creating and evolving brand identity (e.g., logo design)
  • Assisting with branding, design, and content for presentations and proposals
  • Gallery based research
  • Please Note - As part of the 2025 Student Internship offering, priority will be given to Level 5 & 6 students who have specified in the Careers Registration survey (this is completed during enrolment and cannot be changed at this time) that they have had no work experience in the last 12 months and would like some on campus work or a short work placement. However, applications are welcomed from all students meeting the criteria below.
