Full Job Description
You will work across health and academic settings working closely with Consultant Haematologists who are recognised nationally and internationally in their field. You will have responsibility for driving the portfolio of projects forward, ensuring delivery of programmes within agreed timescales and budgets and may be asked to advise, support and provide training to other members of the team and new research fellows or PhD students. Excellent communication, personal influence and client engagement skills are essential to this role whilst working with key internal and external partners.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Manager to join the Haematology Research Team on a short term basis to cover a period of leave. We are looking for an aspiring, self-motivated individual who can demonstrate scientific knowledge and the use of recognised project management principles and tools on a wide range of projects. The team is a group of staff from a number of disciplines and backgrounds who pride themselves on being compassionate, friendly, approachable, patient focussed and committed to research. The role will require working closely with the team to lead the delivery of several key projects within the research portfolio.
The successful candidate will have extensive experience and a track record of delivering change, demonstrate effective leadership and have excellent stakeholder management skills ideally within a health or academic setting.
The Christie is one of Europe's leading cancer centres, treating over 60,000 patients a year. We provide radiotherapy through one of the largest radiotherapy departments in the world; chemotherapy on site and through 14 other hospitals; highly specialist surgery for complex and rare cancer; and a wide range of support and diagnostic services. We are also an international leader in research, with world first breakthroughs for over 100 years. We run one of the largest early clinical trial units in Europe with over 300 trials every year. Cancer research in Manchester, most of which is undertaken on the Christie site, has been officially ranked the best in the UK.
