We are looking for a Part-time Research Assistant for the RELMED project. RELMED is a Wellcome Trust funded research project which aims to understand which computational (reinforcement learning) mechanisms are engaged by different antidepressant treatments.   • About the Role The post is offered on a part time basis (50% FTE), funded until 31 July 2027 and is based in the Department of Psychiatry at the Warneford Hospital. The RELMED study is opening in May 2025. It consists of two randomised clinical trials to be run in sequence. The first trial will run until 2027. This post is suitable for a candidate with previous research experience in the collection and analysis of EEG data, who wishes to contribute to top quality research. You will be responsible for collaborating with the clinical trials and research fellow team in acquiring high-quality behavioural and EEG data. This will involve setting up and calibrating EEG equipment, ensuring all systems are functioning correctly before each experiment and monitoring EEG records, performing quality control and addressing any technical issues promptly. You will recruit study participants and discuss the study and obtain informed consent from people with depression. You will liaise with study personnel including clinical staff, clinical managers, administrative staff and members of the research team and ensure that the project is run to agreed standards and timetable.

    You will hold a first degree or Master's in psychology or a related area along with an excellent academic record. Experience of conducting research in neuroscience, running EEG experiments and performing quality checks of data is essential as is a high level of consideration and care for research participants and awareness of the importance of confidentiality. You will have demonstrable excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills and the ability to work both independently and within a team and to deadlines. Experience of working with clinical trials would be desirable.
