Full Job Description
The proposed Target Operating Model will ultimately lead to the consolidation of services across SYB. As work progresses to establish the Network, staff will be consulted about proposals that may involve them.
Applications are invited from experienced HCPC Registered Biomedical Scientists, holding either FIBMS or MSc (in a Biomedical Science discipline or equivalent), IBMS Higher Specialist Diploma (Virology), level 7 Apprenticeship or equivalent extensive experience with a commitment to obtain a level 7 qualification, to join the team as an Advanced Practitioner within the Virology team, in this busy and complex Teaching Hospital laboratory.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and forward-thinking individual with good interpersonal and communication skills. This post will involve working with the Microbiology team at Barnsley and the Virology team at Sheffield to oversee the consolidation of services at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals. It is expected that the successful candidate will be based at Barnsley Hospital for the first year working with the Microbiology Department to run the Virology service, whilst liaising with the Virology Management team to facilitate service transfer. The post will ultimately be based within the Virology Department at the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield once service transfer is complete. The post will involve the training, development and supervision of staff within Virology.
