Full Job Description
The post exists to provide training to become an Assistant Practitioner in Radiography. Both internal and external training will be provided and successful completion of this will enable the post holder to practice as a competent Assistant Practitioner.
The post holder will perform supervised radiography examinations in accordance with current departmental guidelines, policies and protocols, while providing a high level of patient care. The post holder will be able to produce good quality diagnostic images while safely using highly complex technical equipment. The post holder will work in both acute and community hospitals cross-county.
Other duties include providing a wide range of clinical, technical and administrative support within the imaging department., The role of the Trainee Assistant Practitioner is to provide specific imaging services within a specific scope of practice to the local population. You will work under the direct supervision of a registered Radiographer, developing core skills which include patient care and building a strong understanding of the science and technology used in modern healthcare to provide essential diagnostic imaging across all care pathways.
Other duties will include, clerical duties as per departmental need, routine QA equipment testing, assisting and supporting colleagues and patients throughout clinical and radiological procedures, general housekeeping and infection control tasks.
This role is for 37.5 hours per week over 7 days, 365 days per year. We provide a 24/7 service, therefore some commitment to weekend working and evenings/nights is essential.
The radiology department provides essential diagnostic services using equipment at the forefront of technology to ensure the patients of Gloucestershire receive the best service possible.
The department provides almost half a million examinations per year, ensuring faster diagnosis and treatment plans can be facilitated. In the last three years, we have had significant investment in equipment with state of the art interventional labs, new CT and MRI scanners, as well as new X-ray rooms cross-county.
Radiography is essential in the patient journey from diagnosis to treatment and the quality of this service alongside efficiency is vital. Over 90% of patients that come through the hospital will require radiology services and as a Trainee Assistant Practitioneryou will work alongside our experienced multidisciplinary teams, providing imaging for patients ranging from GP referrals to the acutely unwell/trauma patients.
