If you dont ask you dont get

don’t ask you don’t get

On jobs24.com you can find vacancies with many companies that recognise workplace culture is important and believe investing in the health and well-being of staff is money well spent.

So, you know that bit when you reach the end of an interview and the panel asks if you have any more questions?

Here are a few to help you find out just what kind of organisation you could be working for.

Does the company support charities?

Businesses that support charities usually have a good track record of getting staff involved in all kinds of social activities, from sponsored fun runs to coffee mornings.

Team building follows naturally when everyone is working towards the same good cause.

Are there opportunities for flexible working?

Everyone has obligations outside the workplace and having to accommodate this doesn’t mean you’re less committed to your job.

Good employers recognise this and make it easier for you to keep all the plates spinning.

Do you offer health checks?

Free flu jabs, blood pressure checks, diabetes screening – some companies offer these and more. Not only does this ensure problems are picked up before serious issues arise, but it lets employees know the company cares.

Have you any sports teams?

Whether it’s a five-a-side league or lunchtime badminton sessions, staff who play together, stay together. You have  fun and get fit and the company enjoys better staff retention.

Can I roll all my holidays into one big break?

This can be tricky for some companies to accommodate but, if you’ve your heart set on a big trip, it’s best to know before you start working with a company that they won’t let you have the time off.

Better you work this out at the interview stage than find you’re blocked from going.
