Make a clean sweep
Even the most positive and hardworking staff can feel out of sorts at times, whether that’s through lethargy, apathy or even boredom.
Sometimes the best way to regain your competitive edge and go-get-em enthusiasm for your role is to engage in a spot of housework.
But before you reach for the feather duster and French maid’s outfit (we know you too well, Brian!), perhaps it’s best to first focus on your work life.
Here are four ways to make a clean sweep and enjoy a fresher career.
Get sweeping
We all know about the benefits of decluttering the desk and emptying the email inbox. Such liberation!
But have you thought about how you can bring more order to your working life?
Things to sweep out can include regularly scheduled meetings that waste time yet generate no outcomes.
And have you thought about making better use of video conferencing? Think of the neater diary you’ll have if you’re not travelling so much.
Brush Up On Skills
In your average working day, are there things you wish you could do or do better, such as use that infernal new database system?
Upskilling not only helps you in your role but it also offers new challenges – both of which will help bring back your mojo.
Polish the mirror
Quarterly reviews can reveal much about the efficiency and prospects of a business. So why not make a quarterly review of yourself?
Take time out and ask yourself what your major accomplishments have been and whether you’ve achieved all of the goals you set for yourself?
If there are gaps, go fill them. If you aced it, do you feel you’re not being challenged enough? Then go find missions ‘impossible’.
Make a clean break
If after all of this you still feel unfulfilled, it may well be time to consider a fresh start altogether. Seeking out and taking on a completely new role can be truly invigorating.
First refresh your CV, focusing on the optimistic, motivating energy that got you where you are…and will put you in prime position for a new career.
Then get on to jobs24.com where you can clean up with shiny new vacancies.
