Full Job Description

For candidates who already hold a full and relevant Level 2 qualification in supporting teaching and learning, We are looking for Learning Support Assistants to provide support to pupils with EHCPs, on a 1:1 basis. We are seeking to recruit positive, enthusiastic members of staff with a commitment to our ethos, vision and values.

This post is suitable for candidates who already hold a full and relevant Level 2 or above qualification in supporting teaching and learning OR those who would like to train for a Level 3 qualification whilst working as an apprentice.

    Hold an NVQ Level 2 or above in Specialist Teaching & Learning Support, Teaching & Learning Support, Childcare Learning & Development or equivalent OR be prepared to undertake a Level 3 apprenticeship to study for a qualification whilst working (workplace based training provided by Sutton College in the allocated "off the job" hours for apprentices).

  • Have good literacy and numeracy skills - equivalent to at least Basic Skills Level 2/GCSE (4-9 /A-C) in English & Maths.

  • Have experience of working with primary aged children and the ability to demonstrate high quality phonics teaching and support.

  • Demonstrate in your application form any experience or knowledge you may have of working with children with complex needs.

    (1) 16.25 hours per week, term time only (12:00pm-3:15pm, Monday to Friday). £9,780-£10,379 actual salary.


  • These roles will be in place until the funding ceases or the child leaves the school, whichever is soonest. Candidates looking to work more hours may also be interested in working as a Midday Supervisor at the school (an additional 5 hours a week - please ask the HR Officer for further details or mention your interest on your application form.)

    For candidates looking to work and train on an apprenticeship (who do not currently hold a relevant Level 2 qualification):

    apprenticeships will be on a fixed term basis of 24 months

    (1) 20.25 hours per week, 12:00pm-3:15pm, Monday to Friday plus an additional 4 hours per week 'off the job' time on a day/time agreed by the college and the school. - £5,657 actual salary.

    Salary will increase during the second year of apprenticeship if aged 18 years or older.
