You will be required to teach functional skills and GCSE Mathematics to predominantly 16 – 19 year olds alongside their vocational qualifications as an integral part of their programme of study. Some experience of teaching students with barriers and challenges to learning would be an advantage and you would be required to course lead a curriculum area.

English and Maths

The School teaches, English and Maths GCSEs and Functional Skills. Key features of the Centre include:

·       We work very closely with course teams across the College to ensure successful English and Maths outcomes for those studying full time vocational qualifications.

·       A specialist tutorial team working closely with students, teachers and parents and providing support for progression to further and higher education, employment and training

·       Access to the College’s wide range of specialist services such as our library, additional learning support and personal and financial support

·       A friendly and informal working environment

·       The college is making a significant contribution to the wider strategic development of education and training in the city and across Norfolk, in close partnership with the local community, schools and employers. This is helping to strengthen progression routes, raise the quality of provision and improve value for money.

·       Quality improvement and staff development initiatives have raised the quality of teaching, learning and assessment and led to improved outcomes for learners.

·       Learners make a major contribution to decision making within the college, particularly through the work of the students’ union president, who is an influential member of the senior executive and corporation.

·       There are good progression opportunities and high progression rates for many learners.

·       Teaching, learning and assessment are good. Well-qualified and experienced teachers and support staff have high expectations, support students well and help improve outcomes.

·       Students develop good personal, social and employability skills and make good progress.

·       Students develop and improve their English and mathematics skills well.
