Full Job Description

We are looking for an experienced and adaptable 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join our dynamic mainstream secondary school in Hackney. This full-time role is perfect for a skilled TA who is not only passionate about supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) but also confident in covering and leading core subject lessons when required., o Provide dedicated 1:1 support for students with SEN, adapting learning materials and strategies to meet their individual needs.
o Assist with the planning and delivery of lessons, ensuring that all students can access the curriculum.
o Step in to cover and lead core subject lessons (such as English, Maths, or Science) when needed, maintaining a positive and productive classroom environment.
o Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and other staff to monitor and support the academic and emotional progress of SEN students.
o Help manage classroom behavior, ensuring a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students.
o Contribute to the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and other relevant documentation.
o Foster positive relationships with students, helping them to build confidence and independence.

o A minimum of 3 years of experience working as a Teaching Assistant, preferably within a secondary school setting.
o Proven experience in supporting students with SEN, with a strong understanding of various learning difficulties and behavioral needs.
o Confidence and competence in stepping into classrooms to cover and lead lessons across core subjects.
o Excellent communication and organizational skills.
o Ability to work flexibly and respond to the diverse needs of students and the school environment.
o A calm, patient, and proactive approach to working with young people.
