Full Job Description

A professional and adaptable person is required to work with the SENCO to organise and support teaching and learning activities for a specific student requiring specialist support to access learning. The primary focus is to support the delivery of lessons and specific learning activities set by the teacher for an individual student with complex needs as a result of brain injury. Our ideal candidate will be able to provide specialist learning support in a broad range of different learning situations and settings. The post holder will also plan, organise and undertake other related duties to fully support and underpin learning, personal and social development enabling them to gain independence and participate fully in the curriculum and general life of the school, including the delivery of 1:1 intervention sessions where required. Being adaptable and having empathy, but also following the school's Behaviour Policy. We are looking for someone who has + The necessary skills to manage and supervise student activities safely and be able to use a range of strategies to deal with pupil behaviour + The ability to use specialist equipment/materials and be able to demonstrate and assist others in their use. + The ability to devise and implement structured learning activities, under the direction of the teacher, and be able to evaluate their effectiveness and measure pupils' progress, giving feedback as required.

+ The ability to relate well to children and adults, understanding their needs and being able to respond accordingly. + Level 2 or 3 Diploma or equivalent (essential) + Additional knowledge in specialist area of brain injury (desirable) + Strong IT skills and knowledge of or experience in using assistive technologies (desirable) + Evidence of working towards professional standards for HLTA (desirable) + Paediatric First Aid qualification (this is an advantage but is not a requirement of the role) To apply please submit your application form with your reasons for wanting this position, together with evidence of why you are suitable for the role, and how you have developed your skills in previous roles in readiness for this position.
