Full Job Description

We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team at Mayfield School in Torquay which provides support to children at Key Stage 1 to 4 with SLD/PMLD special educational needs. We are looking to employ a Level 3 Teaching Assistant to work with one of our young pupils who will be supported on a 2:1 ratio due to his complex needs. Desirable skills:

  • A passion for creating fun and engaging ways to support students with complex needs
  • Experience of working with children and young people who can exhibit behaviour that can challenge
  • A good understanding of SEN needs and reasons for complex behaviour
  • Experience of physical restrictive intervention strategies would be an advantage
  • The ability to be a great team player and also be able to work independently and use initiative
  • An open-minded and inquisitive approach to the job but the ability to work to agreed strategies and procedures
  • The ability to develop and sustain positive relationships with children, fellow staff members and families
  • Working hours will be 8.40am to 3.40pm, Term time only. This role will be on an open ended temporary contract based on external funding. The starting salary for a Level 3 Teaching Assistant, based on 5 days a week (actual) is £16,389.05 per annum, paid equally across 12 months. Why work at Mayfield?
