We're looking for innovative people to support the Environment Agency's work on water company Drainage & Wastewater Management Plans (DWMPs). This work will achieve strategically important benefits for the environment across flood risk and water quality. You'll be responsible for:

  • Supporting the Principal Drainage & Wastewater Planner (PDWPs) covering Thames Water and South West Water, to provide consistent, technical advice, guidance and input into the development of their Drainage and Wastewater Management Plans (DWMPs).
  • Support the review and response to the draft and final DWMPs and annual reviews.
  • Support the building of strong relationships with local water & sewerage companies, stakeholders and operational teams to ensure the development of robust water company DWMPs.
  • Escalating risks and issues and working with the other PDWPs within the team and other departments across the Environment Agency.
  • You will be able to work on your own initiative, maintaining effective communication with the team and customers. The team We are a new, small, dispersed team, in Environment & Business, working predominantly with water companies. Co-location with Area Operations and Account Management teams and easy travelling distance for water company meetings is imperative, so this role will be based in Reading or London.

  • Knowledge of drainage, surface water, wastewater engineering, wastewater treatment and / or sewerage systems is essential.
  • Experience of partnering and building relationships, acting as a key interface with customers.
  • Eye for detail and ability to examine and analyse data, presenting facts/findings in a logical/well-structured manner, readily accessed, and understood by a wide audience.
  • Self-starter, motivated to achieve outcomes with an appetite to work collaboratively across teams and with our stakeholders and partners towards a common goal.
  • Passion for innovation and continuous improvement.
