We're looking for a motivated and enthusiastic technical specialist to manage our marine instrumentation. The role will support a team that delivers marine monitoring projects throughout England and Wales. Your main responsibility will be to oversee maintenance, calibration and repairs of the water quality instrumentation (with an emphasis on marine instrumentation) that is used by Environment Agency Marine and Area teams. You will provide quality management advise to the team for instrument calibration and field activities. Manage quality control of data for stakeholders to ensure data specification is met. Provide seawater measurements for calibration and quality control of field measurements, and work with suppliers to develop instrumentation specific to our needs as well as investigate and resolve technical issues and poor instrument performance. The successful candidate maybe required to undertake active monitoring on the vessels which may require overnight stays subject to the policy at the time. The role also requires travelling between locations and as a result the post requires a full UK driving license. The team National Water Quality Instrumentation Service is a national team that is in the Operations National Monitoring & Regulation department. It plays a crucial role in the understanding of our environment through the provision of water quality instrumentation and expert advisory services. We manage a diverse inventory of equipment, and instruments dedicated to the collection of water quality data. Additionally, we develop specialised solutions, addressing new and emerging challenges with a commitment to precision and innovation.

Ideally you will have experience of working with marine instrumentation, specifically calibration and maintenance as well as the quality management of the instrument data. It would be beneficial if the successful candidate has a background in physics, chemistry and mathematics and has a knowledge of electronics. The successful candidate will demonstrate the exemplary Health and Safety awareness needed for managing work safely in this environment.,
