Full Job Description

We protect and improve the environment and by joining us, you will become part of a diverse organisation which takes pride in welcoming applicants from all sections of the communities we serve., We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and motivated Technical Support Officer to join the Field Operations Team at our principal depot in Sale, Manchester. This is a depot based role where you will provide essential day to day operational support to enable the delivery of planning and technical expertise to our Field Team Leaders and the wider team. As a Technical Support Officer, you will support the team in, but not exhaustive of:

  • Working in the depot alongside our Principal Depot Liaison Officer to ensure asset compliance and data control of national assets.
  • Management and organisation of calendars and rotas.
  • Procurement and purchase order support.
  • Processing orders of PPE and equipment whilst keeping an accurate record of depot stock inventory.
  • Maintenance and processing of personnel data.
  • Arranging accommodation and transport for meetings and training sessions.
  • Administrative support for both in person and virtual meetings.
  • Compilation of relevant information for social media communications and team briefs.
  • Improving existing process through identifying and implementing innovative ideas.
  • Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role on a 24 hour call out rota and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training will be provided. The team The team deliver a maintenance program on watercourses throughout the Greater Manchester area, maintaining and operating flood and costal risk management assets. Ensuring their optimal performance in safeguarding communities. We respond to flooding and environmental incidents both day and night. We also work across the country when required to assist with flood and environmental impact response.

    You should demonstrate these essential skills: Deliver results where performance targets are crucial and problems must be resolved quickly Good organisational skills and ability to work under pressure The ability to motivate and engage others Be comfortable with managing external suppliers You will demonstrate a good level of understanding or experience in all or some of the following:
  • Health, Safety & Wellbeing awareness
  • Computer literate with experience of Microsoft Office including Excel and Word. Training provided for in house systems and use of smartphones and tablets.
  • Strong prioritisation and planning skills and self-motivation to ensure tasks are achieved.
  • Ability to contribute to the development of best practice relating to storage of records and use of data systems.
  • The ideal candidate will be self sufficient, friendly, helpful, and willing to work with others.
