Full Job Description

We need your help to protect the environment in East Anglia. You will support our work to improve water quality, manage water resources sustainably and make environmental plans at a catchment level. This role will combine providing administrative support to our team whilst developing skills in environment planning. We will train and help you to develop and learn new skills. Your day-to-day tasks will include:

  • Managing an online mailbox, co-ordinating responses to internal and external enquiries.
  • Maintaining electronic and hard-copy records, and information.
  • Updating our water environment evidence base systems, data, and plans.
  • Advising water management partners and abstraction licence holders when water is not available.
  • Acting as one of our records management leads.
  • Your ongoing personal development is important. As your skills develop you are likely to become more involved in our water resources, water quality and catchment planning work. This is a full-time post although requests for other work patterns will be considered. Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. Everyone that joins us is required to undertake training and participate. Please see the candidate pack for more on how you will support with this. Everyone starting in a new role will be welcomed into the team and given all the training and support needed. As part of your comprehensive induction, you will be provided with all the equipment required for your role. The team The Integrated Environment Planning Team, which sits within East Anglia Area's Environment Planning & Engagement Department in Local Operations, has experts in water quality, water resources and catchment planning. We work with internal and external partners using data and evidence to identify environmental challenges then find ways to solve them.

    This role is open to candidates with a good educational background, and a degree is not essential. We would like to hear from you if you can show us the following:
  • You have an interest in the environment in East Anglia.
  • You are comfortable using data and information in your work.
  • You are familiar with Microsoft Office products, including Excel, as we work with a lot of spreadsheets.
  • You can communicate with a wide range of customers in different situations such as by telephone, online meetings, and face to face.
  • You are organised and can work as part of a team.
  • It would be helpful, but not essential, if you had a full UK driving licence as there may be some travelling between offices from time to time.
