Full Job Description

The Labour, Anti-Corruption, Climate & Environment Policy team leads and coordinates trade policy development, negotiation and implementation on these key policy areas. The team works to ensure protection of workers' rights, environmental and climate change standards, and addresses corruption in the UK's trade policy, in areas of high domestic, stakeholder, and political interest. These roles sit within our implementation team, which is focused on ensuring the UK and partners implement their commitments in the UKs in force trade agreements. This includes through holding high profile committee meetings with partners, and meetings with civil society stakeholders. This is an exciting and dynamic time to be involved in policy areas with significant public interest and shape the UK's approach to making the most of its trade agreements with international partners to progress these issues. You will be joining a friendly and supportive team, which puts emphasis on wellbeing, learning and development, and diversity and inclusion. As a project and relationship lead, you will be responsible for managing relationships and key meetings with a number of our trade partners. To do so, you will.

  • Help organise and deliver committee meetings and external stakeholder dialogues with international partners
  • Lead on communications directly with international partners
  • Help preparations of briefing packs, agendas, and meeting write ups, and help drive follow up actions
  • Support research into partner country implementation of commitments, working with policy leads, DBT colleagues and the overseas HMG network to maintain up-to-date information
  • Work flexibly across the team to adapt to shifting priorities as required, and take on additional responsibilities where appropriate.
  • We are also recruiting a stakeholder engagement lead to help drive forward our engagement and collaboration with business and civil society. To do so you will:
  • Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, understanding their perspectives and interests
  • Consider applications, undertake due diligence, and induct external stakeholders to an advisory group
  • Help deliver high profile external stakeholder dialogues with partner countries
  • Monitor and capture views and issues raised by external stakeholders and feed these in to inform policy positions and priorities with international partners
  • Work flexibly across the team to adapt to shifting priorities as required, and take on additional responsibilities where appropriate
