Full Job Description

As a Data Protection advisor, you will be providing tailored guidance and expert support to colleagues on matters relating to personal data. You'll engage with all levels of the business to support them to comply with relevant legislation and policies, as well as researching, writing, reviewing and maintaining guidance, communications, training and policy documents. Working directly within your team, and more broadly within the Data & Information department, you'll identify and implement innovative ways to improve information management processes. Building relationships with professional networks and stakeholders, both internally and externally, you'll work to deliver sustainable and efficient outcomes for the organisation, supporting our work to make the environment a better place. As part of your core role, you will:
- manage requests from individuals exercising their data protection rights
- investigate security incidents involving personal data, and advise on mitigating actions
- advise on data protection compliance and risks
- influence teams to consider data protection by design and default Depending on your existing skills, interests and experience you will be involved in transformational projects and continuous improvement of the services the Data Protection team provide. Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be asked to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training will be available to support you with your incident role. The team The Data Protection team is part of the Knowledge and Information Management (KIM) team. We work in the Data and Information department within the Strategy, Transformation and Assurance Directorate. The KIM team includes Knowledge Management and Records Management teams. Together we set the policy and direction to support the organisation to manage information effectively, efficiently, and sustainably. We are a friendly and supportive team, dispersed across the country.

- using SharePoint as a working environment Working towards a Data Protection Practitioner qualification is expected if not held.
