We are looking to recruit to the Lead Educator post for ICU and support the clinical educators within CBU 2

You will be responsible for the continuing specialist professional development and overall performance of all staff in ICU in conjunction with the Band 7 Lead Nurse and Matron.

Provide specialist nursing advice Trust wide to support and facilitate high quality, individualised care to patients /clients and relatives/carers in collaboration with the multi professional team, in line with the local and national targets.

To develop leadership strategy to ensure that the needs of the patient are placed at the centre of care delivery.

To be flexible in the approach to the clinical area and provide cover for any area specified.

To work effectively as part of the ICU clinical education team to promote training, which will enhance the delivery of care that staff provide to patients and their families in the pursuit of clinical excellence.

Act as ICU link person working with the Trust Senior Nurse Educator, with universities/link tutors and other students requiring clinical placements and visiting nurses from other areas.

Main duties of the job

To develop the nursing workforce within ICU ensuring that the right people with the right skills are working in the right place at the right time.

To support ICU staff with the knowledge and skills to care for a critically ill patient.

To support ICU staff through the ICU course.

Develop staff on their career pathway

Support the Clinical educators within CBU 2

Work in collaboration with the Lead Nurse ICU and Surgical ward / ICU consultants / Matron.

Participate in the development of clinical skills within ICU in line with the standards and recommendations.

Promote evidence-based practice in the care of the Acutely ill patient.

Develop, implement and deliver department specific skills training programme.

Develop and deliver both structured and unstructured training and educational sessions.

Promote an effective learning environment within the department.

Support and advise staff in the expansion of clinical skills and knowledge.
