Full Job Description

To have lead responsibility for thedevelopment and delivery of the DieteticActive Together service.

Support service redesign anddevelopment of new cancer services taking into account the ambitions ofnational NHS long-term conditions and cancer strategies

Demonstratethe impact of the defined services on the local healthcare system and peopleaffected by cancer.

Toprovide expert clinical practice to a complex caseload of people affected bycancer within the defined services.

Tobenchmark and research best practice to develop and maintain professionaltherapy services which would be of benefit to patients on defined cancerpathways.

Demonstratethe impact of the defined services on the local healthcare system and peopleaffected by cancer.

  • Able to work independently.

  • Able to make informed clinical and non-clinical judgments under pressure.

  • Demonstrate excellent time management and interpersonal skills.

  • Able to plan, deliver and evaluate training / education programmes for staff.


  • Experience

    Essential
  • Significant post-graduate dietetic experience in a variety of clinical areas. including Oncology.

  • Evidence of MDT working.

  • Evidence of dietetic student training.

  • Evidence of audit work.


  • Desirable
  • Previous experience of supervision of staff.

  • Experience of Access and Excel packages.


  • Knowledge & Awareness

    Essential
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety.

  • Knowledge of Confidentiality.


  • Qualifications

    Essential
  • Degree or Post graduate Diploma in Dietetics.

  • Able to work at Masters level.

  • Current HCPC registration.

  • Clinical Supervisory Skills training.


  • Desirable
  • Validated post registration qualification in nutritional support.

  • Attended Clinical Supervisory Skills course.

    Active Togetheris a prehabilitation and rehabilitation service supporting people following acancer diagnosis with physical activity, nutrition, and wellbeing guidance.


  • Theservice has been designed by Sheffield Hallam University who work in closecollaboration with NHS teams to support the delivery and evaluation of theservice.

    The ActiveTogether service launched in Sheffield in 2022 and is currently expanding tonew sites across South Yorkshire in Barnsley, Rotherham and Doncaster.

    ActiveTogether South Yorkshire will provide equitable, multi-modal and personalisedprehabilitation and rehabilitation support that meets the needs of patientsacross the region and generates evidence for a commissioned service.

    BarnsleyHospital Foundation Trust and Barnsley Premier Leisure are working in partnershipto deliver this programme to the population of Barnsley.
