The holder of this post will work on a domestic cat population related project in collaboration with Cats Protection. The aim of the project is to increase our current understanding of the domestic cat population in UK shelters and develop a methodological strategy for a population census.

Interview date: Friday 25th October 2024.

What will you be doing?

The post holder will be responsible for the day to day organisation of the project, including the planning, design and execution of a scoping review of our current understanding of shelter demographics and processes in the UK, along with a systematic review of census techniques. This will inform the second stage of the project, the development of a plan for a comprehensive UK cat census.
Duties will include qualitative and quantitative data collection and management, data analysis and the preparation of peer-reviewed scientific journal articles and reports.

You have the ability to critically appraise scientific literature, along with a sound knowledge of research methods, data management and statistical analysis in the context of population research (demography and epidemiology).

You have experience of both quantitative and qualitative research methods and a proven capability in data management and statistical analysis.

You have an understanding of animal demography and potential influencers across different contexts.
