Full Job Description

Harper Adams University are recruiting for a motivated and well-organised individual with excellent attention to detail who would relish the challenge of working in a busy Learner Support Team. The successful candidate will join a friendly and supportive team comprising of the Head of Disability and Learner Support, the Academic Guidance and Development Manager, three Academic Guidance Tutors, five part-time Learner Support Tutors, Maths Support Tutor and a Learner Support Officer.

Working within the Academic Guidance Team, the post holder will provide academic support and guidance to students to help them improve their skill set to succeed in a higher education environment. This will include first year students with a vocational entry qualification; students with disabilities (including specific learning differences); students with identified study skills needs and other identified learners likely to need support during their transition period to higher education. Working closely with the other Academic Guidance Tutors, the post holder will monitor and review the academic progress of students in order to provide individual and group support sessions as appropriate. Additionally, this role will involve the creation of digital resources to support skills development, as well as the delivery of some skills workshops and large group sessions.

You must be qualified to at least honours degree level with experience of teaching and/or providing student academic support to post-16 learners. This role requires exceptional written and oral communication and IT skills with the ability to act sensitively, displaying warmth and composure under pressure. You will also need to be able to develop highly effective working relationships with staff and students.
