Full Job Description

As an Academic Mentor, you will be employed on a fixed term contract for two terms to deliver a tailored programme of support. This is a full-time role, but part-time will be considered for the right candidate., Your main responsibility in this role will be delivering tailored learning support to groups of pupils in the format of:

  • Small group work (1-6 maximum)
  • One-to-one support
  • Revision lessons (in groups or one-to-one)
  • Identify learning gaps and helping to shape a bespoke intervention programme for pupils
  • Deliver engaging sessions, to support a range of learning styles with clear learning objectives
  • Manage behaviour of pupils during your sessions
  • Differentiate sessions in line with pupils ability, taking into account any barriers to learning or additional needs
  • Derive measurable outcomes from each sessions to track progress
  • Demonstrate safeguarding standards in all practice
  • Work under the guidance of a member of the SLT (senior leadership team), reporting to them, Leaders of Learning and class teachers.

    At Lisle Marsden Church of England Primary Academy, we provide additional targeted support to pupils who may be struggling with early reading and writing skills. These could be children in either Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 2 who would benefit from regular high quality targeted intervention. Support is provided through 1:1 and small group tuition, utilising a range of phonic teaching and learning programmes.
