Becoming an Academic Mentor allows you to make a real difference to pupils within our school who require additional support to achieve in line with or above age-related expectations. You will be working alongside the pupil's teachers and SENDCO to provide targeted support for those pupils who have an EHCP. Relationships The post holder is responsible to the head teacher for his/her duties and responsibilities as well as developing a good relationship with teachers and the extended leadership team. They interact on a professional level with colleagues and seek to establish and maintain productive relationships with them in order to maximise pupil progress. Duties This job description describes in general terms the normal duties which the post-holder will be expected to undertake. However, the job or duties described may vary or be amended from time to time without changing the level of responsibility associated with the post. Responsibilities of the role:

  • Working with class teachers and the extended leadership team to identify the support each pupil needs.
  • Identify learning gaps and helping to shape bespoke intervention programmes for pupils
  • Developing and delivering engaging sessions to support a range of individual needs with clear learning objectives, considering any barriers to learning or additional needs
  • Provide personalised feedback to pupils and identify next steps in their learning.
  • Report back to the SENDCO and class teacher
  • Carefully monitor the impact of the interventions delivered using entry and exit data and the school monitoring system.
  • Delivering measurable outcomes from each session to track progress
