Full Job Description
We are currently looking for an Academy Team Electronic Systems Engineer to join our Academy Team here at Williams. In this role you will be responsible for the configuration and operation of the electronic control systems being run on previous F1 cars used by our Academy Team
As an Academy Team Electronic Systems Engineer, reporting to a Senior Systems Engineer, your main responsibilities will be:
Assist in the preparation and running of the electronic systems used by previous F1 cars.
Oversee track side operation of the previous cars on board ECU ensuring correct reliable behaviour.
Travel to Academy test events to support the car trackside.
Help to develop and maintain factory-based Hardware and Driver in the loop tests systems to match and simulate the previous cars
Our Ideal Academy Team Electronic Systems Engineer candidate will have
Experience of electronic systems in a motorsport environment.
Experience using MATLAB and Simulink to generate code in an embedded application.
Experience using McLaren Applied ATLAS and System monitor tools.
Experience working with electronically controlled hydraulic systems.
An understanding of engine and gearbox control strategies
Knowledge of CAN communication protocols.
Knowledge of standard automotive sensors.
An understanding of IT infrastructure and IT configuration.
Knowledge of C and C# programming languages would be an advantage
Knowledge of DSPACE HIL simulators would be an advantage.
Willing to travel to Test Events as required
The successful candidate will have completed an appropriate engineering training, such as a degree in a relevant discipline (Motorsport / Engineering).

Highly proactive exceptional team player and ability to work effectively under pressure within the group.
High level of creativity coupled with an exceptional attention to detail is essential.
Ability to manage workload and prioritise in-line with fast paced nature of F1 environment.
Ability to work with an open and flexible approach with a high degree of reactivity in handling changes in priorities / direction.
Demonstrate fantastic communication skills both verbally and graphically to help communicate throughout the design process.
Willing to undertake international travel to Test Events as required.
