The Access Team sits within the Front Door of our Integrated Children's Service. In this critical role you will be the first point of contact for the Children, Adults and Health Department, and will deal with all initial enquiries and requests. You will play a key part in ensuring a variety of people including parents/carers and other professionals are provided with straightforward advice and guidance, such as signposting or routing to relevant services.
What will you be doing?

  • You will provide support to families and individuals to access services, ensuring that clear information and guidance is provided or where appropriate the issue is referred.

  • You will be responsible for maintaining and updating information systems and databases to ensure that details and information are recorded and updated accurately.

  • You will ensure that routine queries and problems are resolved and alternative courses of action are recommended if necessary.

  • You will support the work of the team by sharing knowledge and experience to maximise the service provided.

  • You will need to relay any concerns accurately and promptly to the relevant professional within the team (following clearly set procedures). The nature of the contacts may be of a confidential and occasionally distressing nature and you will therefore need to handle enquiries in a sensitive and professional way, and follow clearly set-out safeguarding procedures as needed.

You will have excellent communication skills, able to communicate effectively with service users, professionals and staff from other agencies such as the Police, Schools, and Health using a variety of media i.e. phone, email, face to face.

  • You will hold an NVQ 2 or 3 GCSE's grades C or above or equivalent qualification or equivalent relevant experience.

  • You must have considerable experience of giving and receiving accurate information with experience/knowledge of processes and procedures related to children's services ideally gained in an environment related to children's services or within a similar role

  • You will have initiative and judgement to resolve day-to-day problems independently

  • It is essential that you have previous experience of IT systems and maintaining computerised record systems.

  • You will have demonstrable experience in running standard reports, analysing data and presenting findings.

  • Experience of MOSAIC would be an advantage.

  • Please note that due to the nature of this role it is a requirement of employment that an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is obtained for this post.
