Full Job Description

Durham County Council currently operates a hybrid working policy where a model of 2 days in the workplace and 3 days at home/remote will apply. This model is pro-rated for part time roles and arrangements are at managers discretion, alternatively you can work all of your contracted hours within the workplace if you prefer.

INTERVIEWS
Interviews will be held on Wednesday 2 October 2024.

We operate a guaranteed interview scheme for applicants that can show they meet all the essential criteria and have indicated they have a disability, are a looked after young person, care leaver or a veteran.

You should be a professional team worker with a 'can-do' attitude and be a great communicator. You should also be familiar with and accomplished at practical management of access to the countryside including public rights of way structures, habitat management, and working with volunteers., You should have a NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Countryside Management or a related subject and/or be able to demonstrate directly related experience.

A good knowledge of nature conservation, visitor management, protected landscapes, countryside designation, protection and land management, alongside demonstrable skills in mentoring trainees and running public and educational events is desirable.

Access to own transport is essential to ful. A work mileage payment scheme is included. Uniform and PPE are supplied.

We want someone who will enjoy working outdoors in the North Pennines National Landscape and UNESCO Global Geopark, one of the most spectacular landscapes in the country.
