What will you be doing on the apprenticeship? As an Accountancy or Taxation Apprentice, you'll join an exciting BBC team while developing your skills in areas like:

  • Financial Management
  • Assurance, Risk and Control
  • Financial Information
  • Legislation
  • Strategic Business Management and Governance

You'll study for your industry recognised apprenticeship qualification, learning both on and off the job. CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants) focuses on management accounting and provides expertise in financial management and business strategy. ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) offers a broader spectrum of accounting skills, covering areas like audit, taxation, and financial reporting, preparing professionals for various roles in finance and accounting., Apprentices starting at BBC from September 2025 will be placed on a 'Fixed Term' contract. This means your contract is for the duration of your apprenticeship only. The BBC is committed to investing in new talent and as you approach the end of your apprenticeship, we will work with you to support you and offer you employability and networking training to help you secure your next role - this might be a job here at the BBC, or somewhere in the wider media industry., We have one Cardiff based placement available, in the Financial Operations Team. Financial Operations is a multi-functional team covering balance sheet accounting, controllership, payroll & expenses and our Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) contract. They provide expertise and advice in accounting for capital assets and leases, programme and period-end production accounting, balance sheet management, and also support end-users with the finance systems. Financial Operations also manage the BBC's finance and accounting outsourced contract with 'TCS', whose activities include payroll and expenses, order to cash, record to report and credit control.

    On successful completion of your apprenticeship, you will be a fully qualified accountant who will be able to apply for a broad range of roles in financial functions in the BBC and across the industry!,

  • A calm and focused approach to changing circumstances, By the start of the apprenticeship in September 2025, have lived in the UK or European Economic Area (EEA) for a minimum of 3 years.
  • Be eligible to work in the UK full time for the duration of the apprenticeship contract.
  • Not currently taking part in an apprenticeship scheme supported by the BBC or another organisation., Have completed an undergraduate degree in any discipline by the time the scheme starts in September 2025
  • Have achieved Maths and English GCSE at Grade 4/C or above or National 5 (Scotland) at C or above or an equivalent qualification.
