Full Job Description

The award winning National Space Centre is looking to recruit a talented individual to join our Finance Team to support the Finance Manager in ensuring there are effective financial operations in the organisation through the accurate and timely processing and submission of financial records to ledgers. The role will also require the successful applicant to provide analysis of the financial data relating to income and expenditure.,

  • Maintaining accurate and detailed customer & supplier records

  • To process/check and transfer authorised invoices from Paperless to purchase ledger on SAGE

  • Monitoring of the finance inbox

  • Analysing purchase ledger invoice entries, to identify which invoices are due for payment

  • Evaluate outstanding purchase orders to identify accruals, prepayments & CAPEX to support month end reporting

  • Close outstanding purchase orders after a period if not received

  • Preparing and entering journals into the system

  • Supporting the preparation of management accounts and month-end duties

  • Credit Control

  • Supplier statement reconciliations

  • Assisting wider business with purchase ordering, GRN & new purchase ordering procedure

  • Matching purchase invoices with purchase orders

  • Processing of credit card statements

  • Process of credit card payments

  • Processing of National Statistics returns on a monthly and annual basis.

  • Provide cover to the finance department during staff absence and leave

  • Other reasonable tasks as may be designated

    Hands-on experience and proficiency with MS Excel and accounting software (e.g. SAGE)

  • Organisational skills

  • Experienced in Financial Operations in Small-Medium Sized Enterprises

  • Knowledge/Skills/Qualifications
  • Experienced in Purchase Ledger and payment systems

  • Experience working in a busy finance department and as part of a team and covering other roles.

  • Have effective communication skills (written and verbal English)

  • Be proactive and able to work on own initiative with minimal supervision

  • Possess excellent planning organizational and deadline time keeping skills

  • Exhibit good IT skill including being a proficient user of Sage 50 and MS Excel

    Full Time - 35 hours per week. Usually Monday to Friday, but flexibility is required as the role depends upon the workload, including weekends. Occasional early mornings, late evenings and bank holiday work according to the needs of the team.


  • Salary - £24,061 per year.

    Please note that this is a temporary 6 month contract.
