Full Job Description

We have a full time Activity Coordinator posts available, in our acute inpatient mental health service based at The Caludon Centre, in Coventry. The role involves coordinating and facilitating a range of social, recreational and diversional group activities for patients, as part of their recovery. We are looking for flexible and motivated individuals to apply, who have good people skills and a range of relevant activity skills. Experience of working in a mental health, learning disability or special educational setting would be advantageous. The post holder will be responsible for providing a range of activities for patients on the wards. They will be required to .. Work without direct supervision Provide a diverse weekly program of activities for all inpatient patients on wards Provide physical activity, health promotion, patient meetings, social and recreational activities,on and off the ward. Provide and maintain a range of resources so that patients and staff can engage in activities throughout the day and evening. To document patient progress To work within the team to manage patient needs and risks To effectively manage resources To provide feedback to the ward staff on patients participation and other relevant information To report any untoward situations or any issues of concern as appropriate to the Ward Manager The post holder will be required to work with the team and independently The post holder will participate in managerial supervision with their line manager To work collaboratively with the nursing team and report directly to their line manager To provide a range of appropriate physical activities, health promotion, social and recreational activities Will share a specific activity skill and expertise within the activity team i.e. music, horticultiure, exercise. To assist with the development of events, projects and initiatives. Perform breakaway and de-escalation techniques as required To act always in such a way as to promote and safeguard the wellbeing and interests of patients Maintain an atmosphere conclusive to recovery and maintain a friendly professional relationship with patients, relatives, carers and colleagues alike. To ensure effective use of resources. Maintain all equipment in working order. Handle petty cash as required under the direction of the Ward Manager to purchase items and equipment required to undertake activities. Maintain range documentation clearly and efficiently, including use of clinical record system, spreadsheets, email & maintaining electronic files.
